We are just an ordinary family who loves discovering new places, setting off on thrilling adventures and creating lasting memories together. Every journey we embark on strengthens the bond we share and deepens our appreciation for the world around us. Our goal is to create important life lessons, expose our kids to diverse cultures and histories, and encourage them to embrace the endless array of opportunities that exist.
Our story began on the sun-kissed shores of Boracay in February 2018. Benn, an expatriate with over a decade of experience in Hong Kong and Singapore, was living in Singapore at the time, while I was based in Hong Kong. Our chance meeting on that picturesque island quickly blossomed into a long-distance relationship that spanned nearly a year. Fueled by our deepening connection and shared dreams, Benn made the life-changing decision to move back to Hong Kong, bringing us closer to our goal of exploring the world together.

Our Life Goals: Family Travel and Exploration
Our goal is to spend quality time as a family, exploring new destinations and immersing ourselves in diverse cultures and languages. We believe in traveling with an open mind, teaching our kids the importance of protecting the planet and respecting animals. We aim to inspire families to travel with their children and see the world as an exciting storybook full of endless adventures.
In 2009, Benn and I found ourselves at a crossroads in Hong Kong, entrenched in demanding corporate roles that left little room for our shared passion: travel. Recognizing that life is too short to delay dreams, we made a bold decision to reshape our future.
We began by simplifying our lives, moving into a cozy, smaller apartment to maximize our savings. This intentional downsizing was more than a financial strategy; it was a commitment to our vision of exploring the world together.
Once we had built a sufficient financial cushion, we took the courageous step of resigning from our jobs, embracing the uncertainty and excitement of a life on the road. This leap into the unknown marked the beginning of our global adventures together.
By 2011, Benn and I had made a life-changing decision to quit our jobs, sell everything, and set off on an adventure with no fixed destination. Our first stop was Kenya, where we spent a month working with local communities and teaching at a school before building a lasting relationship with an orphanage we supported for years.
Our journey then took us across Africa—Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique, and Morocco—before we embarked on the epic Trans-Siberian Railway, traveling through China, Mongolia, and Russia. From there, we explored Europe by bus and train and eventually began our Latin American adventure.
It was in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the iconic Christ the Redeemer Statue, that Benn proposed, marking the end of this unforgettable chapter in our travels as a couple.
Less than a year after our global travels, we welcomed our first baby girl, Ria, who was part of our dream wedding in South Africa at just 3 months old, proudly serving as our beautiful flower girl.
After 15 months of travel, we returned to Singapore, where Benn worked in corporate insurance. However, after four years, we felt a deeper calling than the corporate world. When Benn's company closed, we decided to leave it all behind again, sold everything, and buy a one-way ticket to Costa Rica.
For the past 9 years, Costa Rica has been our treasured home, where we’ve built a successful fishing business offering unforgettable day trips and exclusive fishing packages in the stunning Quepos/Manuel Antonio area.
Benn
I left my hometown of the Isle of Man at 21, planning for a ‘Year in Asia’ that turned into 13 incredible years in Hong Kong and Singapore. During that time, I held roles in Sales, Operations, and Management in the Insurance & Financial Services sector. In 2011-2012, Cate and I took a career sabbatical to travel the world, armed with only our backpacks and a passion for exploration. Now, we use our travel experiences to help you create your own unforgettable journeys.
Cate
Originally from the Philippines and raised in Dubai, where most of my family lives, I’ve always had a passion for vibrant city life. After working in the oil & gas sector, I lived in Hong Kong and Singapore, embracing the excitement of urban living. Now based in Costa Rica’s coastal towns, I’ve found the perfect balance between city energy and nature's peace. When I’m not working, I love photography, filming family adventures, and hiking in the rainforest with my kids.
Ria
Ria is a third-culture kid, born in Singapore, with an adventurous spirit and a contagious smile. Outgoing and curious, she’s always seeking new experiences, from skiing in the mountains to hiking lush forests, horseback riding along scenic trails, and catching waves while surfing at beautiful beaches. Her love for travel and exploring new destinations around the world fuels her imagination, especially with her favorite color—purple—always by her side.
Oliver
Born in Costa Rica, Oliver is our next third-culture kid. We call him ‘Tico,’ reflecting his Costa Rican roots. Just like his sister Ria, Oliver is sweet, playful, brave, and adventurous. He loves hiking through the jungles, horseback riding, road trips, and exploring new places—especially theme parks, beaches, and sunsets. His favorite colors, orange and green, match his warm and enthusiastic personality. At his age, he’s also obsessed with collecting Hot Wheels cars and Pokémon cards, adding a touch of fun to his explorations.
